American Legion Buckeye Boys State is a "hands on" workshop in the principles and organization of Ohio government where young men will learn about Ohio government by operating the agencies and levels of a mythical state government. American Legion Buckeye Boys State is one of the largest single pipelines of cadet nominees to U.S. Naval Academy, West Point, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the Coast Guard Academy. American Legion Buckeye Girls State is a week-long program designed to educate Ohio's young women in the duties, privileges, rights, and responsibilities of good citizenship. By getting involved in the process, BGS delegates learn more about city, county, and state government in one week than they will in an entire semester of high school.
